![]() I started out highlighting parts that I thought I would use in my review, then I realized I might have a third of the book highlighted. I’ll be honest I delayed reading this book because I knew the author would make me think, he would put me through a wringer, in a good way. I received a complimentary e-copy of When the River Runs Dry. I recommend librarians read it themselves to determine its appropriateness for their audience. It may also not be appropriate for some church libraries. For this reason I cannot recommend this book for a K-12 Christian school library. Some may find it offensive - I’m still not sure what I think of it. Wright also has an interesting voice when God speaks in this book. There is also considerable use of minced oaths, even by Christian characters. There is a fair amount of rough language and behavior as well as vigilante justice in the book. ![]() I look forward to reading more books in this series. I also recommend reading the books in the series in order. It may take you that long to make connections between the chapters. With When the River Runs Dry, I recommend reading at least 25% maybe even more before giving up. I often tell my students to read at least 10% of a book before giving up on it. God’s Word is shared in various situations but it does not feel preachy. Several people are led to the Lord through unique experiences. The plot contains many good Biblical truths. He has created characters that readers will care about. Marshall Wright did bring connection between characters as the book progressed. I didn’t give up as I am a member of the Launch Team and wanted to be able to give a review of the whole thing, not just the frustrations I was feeling at the beginning. I hoped there would be connections as the plot continued. At the beginning it felt to me like he bounced around, a lot and introduced many characters. This may have been rectified had I read Grace LIke a River Flows first. ![]() Marshall Wright actually recommends reading book one first.I struggled at first with R.
